Nothing has caused me more pain in my life than my 2001 Toyota Camry.
Ever since I got it when I was 18-years-old, I have been having problems with this stupid car. From getting stuck in the snow to the battery dying, I am convinced that this car is out to get me.
But our feud has only gotten worse since starting my Sophomore year.
Since starting the semester, my car has been having battery issues. It keeps dying at random moments throughout the day and sometimes it doesn’t even start up at all. It has gotten to the point where I have to bum rides from my friend, ask my girlfriend to take me to her apartment shuttle, or beg my professors to let me attend class via zoom.
Two months ago, I decided enough was enough. One way or another, I was going to win this fight against my machine.
So I decided to call my dad to help me jump-start my car.
Now, my dad likes to think he’s a mechanic, but as soon as he put the jumper cables onto my car battery and started to see smoke, we both quickly learned that he was in fact, not a mechanic.
So I called a tow truck to pick up my car and take it to my parent’s house. The plan was to charge my car overnight, and I would pick it up in the morning. I would only lose my car for a day, so I thought this would be the best option for me and my car.
Boy was I wrong.
The next day, my girlfriend dropped me off at my parent’s house to pick up my car. To my surprise, the vehicle started up! It was a miracle. As I started driving back to my apartment, I started to think that maybe the feud I had with my car had finally ended.
And then the car behind me rear-ended me, causing me to crash into the car in front of me.
Everyone in the accident was fine, but my Camry was totaled. The headlight was hanging off by a wire, the entire front was pushed in, and you could see the inside of my trunk with all of the holes in it.
